美方國務院聲明：
1945年9月2日前居住於福爾摩沙的居民，屬日本國民，非依日本法律自願個別喪失日本國籍者，仍有日本國籍。

美方國務院聲明台灣島島民屬日本公民除非依日本法自願個別喪失日本國籍。。。

二戰期間他們為聯合國同盟敵人。在日本自稱為台灣人之日本人依法持續持有日本公民國籍﹐除非依據日本國籍法已主動申辦自願喪失日本國籍...

In particular, it is considered that exemption from Japanese jurisdiction was not intended to be accorded the estimated 20,000 persons in Japan claiming to be Taiwanese; these persons throughout the war were enemy nationals and according to Japanese law still retain Japanese nationality, excepting only those who have individually divested themselves thereof in accordance with established procedure.
